Roller Hearth Quenching & Tempering Production Line for Automobile Wheel Hubs

Roller hearth quenching is a heat-treatment process used mainly for steel plates, sheets, and sometimes bars/sections in which the material is:

1. Austenitized in a furnace,2. Transferred on rollers through the quenching section,3. Rapidly cooled by water spray, mist, or air-water jets from one or both sides.

What “roller hearth” meansA roller hearth furnace uses rotating rollers to move the workpiece continuously through the furnace and cooling zones. This gives:- controlled heating,- uniform throughput,- suitable handling of large flat products.

Purpose of quenchingQuenching rapidly cools the steel to:- increase hardness,- improve strength,- modify microstructure (often forming martensite or bainite, depending on steel and cooling rate).

Typical process steps- Preheating- Austenitizing at the required temperature- Transfer to quench zone- Rapid cooling using sprays/jets- Often followed by tempering to reduce brittleness

Advantages- Good for continuous production- Uniform treatment of large plates- Better control of cooling rate- Suitable for high-throughput industrial lines

Applications- Quenched and tempered steel plates- Structural steel products- Wear-resistant plates- Heavy machinery components

If you want, I can also give you:- a diagram of the process,- the advantages/disadvantages,- or the difference between roller hearth quenching and batch quenching.
